Our conference theme this year is
Preserving Public Health in Challenging Times: Envisioning Our Future

We have all personally or professionally felt the effects of the recent economic recession and its political ramifications, whether directly or within the communities we serve. However, times of difficulty also bring new opportunities to strengthen old relationships, make new alliances, and reaffirm our fundamental values as public health professionals.

Please join us this year to share past successes, current challenges, innovative solutions, and long-term visions and plans for a healthier and more just New Mexico.

A highlight of this year's conference will be our three dynamic keynote speakers.

Douglas Meiklejohn

An attorney, is the founder and the Executive Director of the New Mexico Environmental Law Center (the Law Center), a non-profit organization that provides free and low-cost legal services to community and environmental groups working to protect New Mexico's environment.

Dr. Margaret Flowers

Dr. Flowers presently serves as congressional fellow for Physicians for a National Health Program, a national organization of 18,000 doctors who support single-payer national health insurance. Her work includes coordinating visits of single-payer advocates with members of Congress and their staff and assisting with congressional briefings on health care reform.

Carmen Rita Nevarez, MD, MPH

Dr. Nevarez currently serves as the Vice President of External Relations and Preventive Medicine Advisor at the Public Health Institute (PHI), one of the largest and most comprehensive non-profit public health organizations in the nation. She is Immediate Past President of the American Public Health Association (APHA).

Don't miss this incredible opportunity to connect
with your public health colleagues in New Mexico!

Nursing, CHES, and Social Work CEU's will be available.
